Filming
Last night, I took a tripod and camera and attempted to shoot my E4 ident.
It didn't go as smoothly as I planned; the polystyrene was very light and it kept moving even when I breathed near it. It was very flimsy and despite using masking tape the figure moved more freely than I anticipated. I ended up with 170 images and in final cut I sped up, slowed down and reversed the appropriate clips. After dubbing over the ident track, I also dubbed over some original transformer sound effects

More development work
Today I did more development work, making shapes with polystyrene, whilst also making a rudimentary, realistic sketch of the 'transformer' figure, taking into account how I'll bind the pieces, such as tape, pins etc.
I used a kitchen knife to cut out a shape for the E4 symbol, making a small one as a test. Then I used a bigger piece of polystyrene to get a larger logo.
It's easy to cut, but it can crumble and break if you're to rough with it.
I also thought about how it'll have to be evenly lit, and if I want to make anything 'jump', I will need 'invisible thread' to suspend the object, I also need to think about how I'll suspend it.

Development Work
Home Video
In my home I used myphone to make a short 4 second clip of a car door opening on a Transformers toy. It was made up ofabout 70 or so images.
Because I was using myphone, stabilisation of the camera was not very good and the camera often movedwhen I pressed the capture button. From this I've learned that total stabilisation between images is vital unless the camera is meant to move.
Camera Test 1
This test involved an SLR camera instead of my phone so the quality of the footage and the light was better. Just as another movement test, I used a pin from the pin pot and animated it moving towards the pot.
The Idea
After researching E4 and looking at its demographic and content, I have come up with a proposal involving a Transformer based idea. I have written my research on paper and I've written my proposal too and now I will start my development work.
